Sikkim is a Himalayan wonderland neatly tucked in a nature’s corner. A magical land of hidden valleys, mystical monasteries, snow-fed lakes, flower be-decked meadows and mountains covered with diverse flora and fauna. Sikkim, once a Himalayan monarchy and part of fabled silk route to china, completely unknown to the outside world, has remarkably established itself as a popular tourist destination in recent years. Much of this development of Sikkim started from its merger with India in 1975 which opened the doors to this uncanny land for the world to discover.
The pride of Sikkim is the World’s third highest peak, Kangchendzonga and all the beauty that comes with it but for the Sikkimese, Khangchendzonga is much more than a mountain and is revered as the abode of their guardian deity Dzo-nga. Forbidden North id is the recently opened tourist destination in Sikkim where one can savor the natural vistas along with ample diversity of flora and fauna. Sikkim also comprises about 180 perennial lakes, among which Khachoedpalri, Gurudongmar, Chho Lhamo and Men Moi Tso are some of the most scenic.
Pemayangtse Monastery, Changay Falls, Singsor Bridge, Dentam Village and the beautiful Dzongri meadows are equally alluring places in Sikkim. Considered as one of the last Himalayan Shangri-La, travelers are truly enchanted in the journey of this magical and mystical land.
