Chitwan meaning” heart of the jungle” has another jewel to add to the treasure trove of Nepal, Chitwan National Park. Located in an area of 932 sq. km, surrounded by Rapti and Narayani River to the north, Parsa Wildlife Reserve in the east and Madi settlements and India border in the south, this world heritage listed reserve has a sizable variety and population of Wildlife. Established in 1973, Chitwan National Park is the first national park of Nepal and famous for best wildlife viewing in Asia. Comprising a vast area of dense tropical and sub-tropical forests, grasslands and marshes, Chitwan National Park harbors a wide range of wildlife species. Chitwan National park consist a total of 68 species of mammals, 56 species of herpeto fauna and 126 species of fish, 150 species of butterflies and 47 species of reptiles. Chitwan National Park is also renowned for the protection of the rare species like One Horned Rhinoceros, Royal Bengal Tiger and Gharial Crocodile. Chitwan National park is also a home to the world’s largest terrestrial mammal (wild elephant) and the world’s smallest terrestrial mammal (pygmy shrew). Chitwan National Park is a natural habitat of a total 544 species of bird Including 22 globally threatened species and critically endangered Bengal Florican, Slender-billed Vulture, White-rumped Vulture and Red-headed Vulture. While venturing around the park on an exciting elephant safari and encountering different wildlife, if you are extremely lucky one can catch a glimpse of leopards, wild elephants, sloth bears, striped hyena, Gangetic dolphin and wild bison. Though it is a once in a lifetime chance of spotting the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger, Chitwan National Park attracts many keen visitors. On our visit to National park apart from elephant safari and National park visits we will also visit the Bees Hazaar Taal (Twenty thousand lakes), Elephant breeding center and Gharial hatchery which are quite fascinating. We will also go on a canoe ride along the Rapti River which is a fantastic opportunity for watching birds and 2 rare species of crocodiles along with the beautiful view of Sunset. On the evening we will be entertained by cultural dances performed by locals of Tharu ethnicity.

Itinerary Detail
Day-1
On Your arrival at Chitrasari our staff will receive you. You will then be transferred to our Lodge where you will be offered refreshment & be given a briefing on our lodge & its facilities. After being given your program details for the day, your room will then be allocated to you.
13.00 – Lunch
15.00 – Village tour to a nearby ethnic Tharu village where you will learn more about the life and lifestyle of the Tharus.

19.00 – Tharu cultural dance presentation (which you will also participate in) by the local villagers or a slide show presentation on almost everything under the Chitwan.
20.00 – Dinner
Day-2
06.00 – Wake up call.
06.30 – Breakfast.
07.00 – Canoe ride along the Rapti River and an excellent opportunity for watching birds, 2 rare species of crocodiles, Marsh Mugger and the fish eating Gharial. One can also enjoy the Elephant bathing and Jungle Walk.
13.00 – Lunch.
15.00 – We go on an Elephant Safari. An excellent opportunity to see four different kinds of deer, rhinoceros, wild boar, monkey, leopard, sloth bear, and the Royal Bengal Tiger (if you are lucky). You will also encounter many other smaller mammals that have made Chitwan their home.
19.00 – Tharu cultural dance presentation or slides show presentation.
20.00 – Dinner
Day-3
06.00 – Wake up call.
06.30 – Breakfast.
07.00 – We Visit the Government Elephant Breeding Centre.
10.00 – Drive to Bees Hazaar Taal (Twenty thousand lakes) where you will see crocodiles and lots of birds in and around these lakes.
13.00 – Lunch. (Pack Lunch)
15.00 – We go on a exciting Jeep Drive through the grasslands, riverine forests and Sal forests to Kasara (the National Park’s headquarters) Gharial hatchery farm where you will learn about how crocodiles are brought up at this farm & then later released into the rivers.
19.00 – Tharu cultural dance presentation or slides show presentation.
20.00 – Dinner
Day-4
06.30 – Wake up call.
07.00 – Breakfast.
07.30 – Visit to the National Park Visitor’s center where you can learn more about the history of the National Park and about wildlife.
10.00 – Departure for onward journey.

Access:
Chitwan is easily accessible from Kathmandu, being well connected by a national highway to Bharatpur and to Sauraha. There are daily fights from October through May to Meghauli airstrip just outside the park boundary. Another exciting alternative is a two to three day raft trip down the Trishuli river to Narayanghat or directly into the western edge of the park.
Visitors can stay in one of the several lodges and camps inside or outside the park. Visitors can actively participate in exciting stalks through the forest looking for animal sight. One unique Chitwan experience is elephant back safaris in search of the one-horned rhinoceros, leopard, sloth bear and the majestic royal Bengal tiger. Few visitors can ever forget the excitement provided by the ride on the Elephant’s back and sightseeing wildlife. Apart from elephant safaris, travelers will be happily occupied for several days with nature walks, canoe rides down the park rivers, and land-over drives through the forest.
